Mitered and Chequered Finally Finished!

Ha, I believe you have forgotten all about Mitered and Chequered, haven´t you?  🙂

Mitered and Chequered

Well, it was not exactly on top of the project pile, however, it got finished, washed and folded. I am very pleased with how it turned out, even though next time I decide to make a blanket, it certainly will not be from a fairly thin cotton yarn 🙂

The final measurements are 100 x 115 cm. I opted for a wide border when I run out of the white, as the replacement white is a teeny bit thicker, which was OK in the border but may have been a problem in individual squares.

The mitered squares are basically these, only with 2ch rather than 3ch in the corners. The white squares are just your basic granny squares. I whip stitched them together row by row.

???????????????????????????????

The final round in the border is made of double Vs, as described here.

I like the blanket very much, I adore the neat rows and rows of cotton stitches. I hope Pip will like it just as much, as it will eventually be a cover of his bed (once moves out of the cot, that is 🙂 ).

I finished it just in time to get ready for another KAL (very excited about that one!) and also to work on those dainty daisies in between!

  1. What a beautiful blanket! I love your colors. I think you finished the project cleverly when you ran out of white yarn. The wide and colorful border is a nice frame to the little squares.

  2. Love it…the look especially. And I’ve done the border before like that because I totally ran out of a color before I thought I would.

    Thanks for sharing!!

  3. It’s beautiful! Lovely to find your blog, and thank you for visiting me and your question about the yarn I used…it is Stylecraft Special DK.
    Wishing you a happy week.
